1969 BMW R69S
The 1969 BMW R69S is a two‐owner, triple numbers matching, serial number 663891, that was acquired by its owner in 2003, after a refurbishment by BMW dealer, Wolf BMW of Ailsa Craig, Ontario. The last year of production for the R69S, only 321 examples were produced in 1969. This motorcycle features the sought‐after European trim and Earles leading‐link forks. The bike is offered with a clean Ontario title. Powered by a 42 HP, 593cc opposed twin, paired with a four‐speed transmission and a driveshaft, the bike has accumulated 28,258 original miles. The bodywork and the frame are finished in it’s original black with white pinstripes accenting the fuel tank and fenders. Features include the optional factory 6.5 gal. sport tank (with storage compartment), optional deep BMW oil pan, Magura “Europa” bars, Denfeld solo saddle, Denfeld pillion saddle, factory original side‐stand, a center stand, black rubber knee grips, street lighting with Hella bar‐end turn signals, and Albert side mirrors mounted to the headlight nacelle, featuring the VDO speedometer. Shouldered 18″ aluminum rims, running on Metzler tires, are laced with stainless steel spokes to hubs with drum brakes. Suspension consists of an Earles leading‐link fork as well as twin shrouded Boge shocks mounted to the swingarm on the left and the final drive housing on the right. The bike is in excellent running condition, featuring several minor improvements for daily running, including a 12‐volt conversion, with a Sachse ZDG 3.12 Digital Ignition system. All original 6V parts are included for an easy switch back for authenticity. Lighting is upgraded to LED bulbs where applicable. Meticulously maintained, regular service includes the following:
Slingers cleaned @ 25,819 miles
Fuel tank cleaned
Dual Bing Carburetors restored/tuned
New Everbest Dual‐Outlet Fuel Valve
Heads refurbished/de‐coked/cleaned
Full transmission inspection/overhaul
Front & Rear brake service
The factory original tire pump, original tool roll, original BMW cloth, and original owner’s manual are included. Electronic service records for the last 20 years will be provided in electronic format. Also included with the purchase of the motorcycle are an original Schorsch Meier wide bench seat w/grab handles, original condition Craven Dolomite panniers and mounting hardware, original condition Weinmann steel wheels, original condition BMW exhaust system, including pipes & silencers, and original condition American‐style handlebars. The R69S embodies the finest qualities of the post‐war BMW’s. With its built‐up crankshaft, predominance of ball and roller bearings, and gear‐driven camshafts, the engine is a jewel. Yet, despite the old‐world craftmanship, it remains an eminently practical and usable classic motorcycle. This is an excellent example of an investment‐grade vintage motorcycle, one of the most desirable of the post‐war BMW motorcycles.
